Now I wouldn’t mind it if my neighbors played classical music. Piped it out of their little squeaky boom box with unbridled enthusiasm. I wouldn’t mind that. It would fill me with a good attitude. But where I am, my neighbors don’t do that. It’s rather the opposite. Of course the real solution is for me to move. And move I must. To where the sounds are nature and water and birds and bicycles. And the faint hum of my purring G5 mac.

But right now, although I don’t want to dwell on it, it does make for a fascinating observation. Why would someone want to play the same (pop) song over and over again, all throughout the day? Obviously, they love that song. But the same song, over and over again? That’s madness. It’s almost driving me insane.

Except I have a solution. They’re called earplugs. And while I’m on the subject, let me give a quick thanks to the inventor of earplugs. Thank you so much. Your invention was brilliant.
